This was one of the cheaper flirt poles on the market, I haven’t tried others so I can’t compare, but I’m very happy with this one. It is quite small when retracted so it fits into a small bag on walks to the park. It does come apart easily if your dog tugs on it too hard, but easily goes back together well enough and it really hasn’t bothered me. My pup is truly obsessed with it, we can’t say flirt pole out loud unless we truly intend to play with her or she goes wild with excitement. My pup is a terrier from working stock and this is excellent training for ratting, when she first started playing with it she ran hard, fast and too wide, often over shooting it by a long way. In just a month or so she has learned to anticipate its moves and dart quickly back and forth in a much smaller space. She never gets bored of it and despite the fact she is very hyper and often unfocused on me and my commands when we’re out and about and there’s lots of distractions, this gets her attention immediately, which has been super handy. I can’t recommend it enough. I’ve had it 6 weeks and it’s still going strong even though she’s yanked it here and there and chewed it a bit. She did eventually learn not to pull it, when she tries to tug it off me I just drop it and say all done (a command she already knew) and I refuse to play again until she lets go, she quickly learned that tugging meant end of play – and really that’s my only criticism, it’s a rope on the end, which is similar to her tug toys and so she likely tugged because of that association, but you can tie something else on to the end if you wanted.I’ll edit my review if it breaks completely any time soon, but I have to say that for £15 I’d be happy to get a few months out of it.EDIT: We got a solid year out of using this, before I was forced to replace it because one of the poles lost in its inner grip, which meant it wouldn’t remain extended. We used it near enough every day, so I’d say it’s still pretty great value for money – BUT, I’d be happy to pay more for one that lasts forever and won’t end up in landfill, so my search is on for one that will stand the test of time.

Great toy! Used in the garden to keep puppy amused and exercised until he can go out for a walk! Seems strong and fit for purpose!

The rope toys seem durable and fun to use. Not 5 stars as takes a while to get used to fixing the extended parts straight by turning clockwise – not all that secure as they don’t click into place and sometimes slide back so pole collapses mid swing. So design there not entirely great. May be better to pay more for one that fixes itself into extended mode better.

My 1 year GSD loves this toy. As soon as I bring it out she can’t wait to get going. As you can see from the video I have posted. If you have a dog that has high prey drive/ a lot of energy this is a great toy to use. You just need to be careful that your dog doesn’t just chew on the toy or the rope. My dog is pretty smart so if she can’t get the lure she will attack the rope the lure is attached to.Make sure your dog knows the “drop it” command or this toy can be destroyed. Remember this toy is not a chew toy and is not durable for the aggressive/strong chewers or being chewed for long periods. The way I use the flirt pole is that my dog needs to make eye contact or complete a command (e.g. speak) then she we engage with the flirt pole. After she catches it, I give her about 5-10s with the toy then I ask her to drop it, treat her, then repeat for 10 minutes. It’s physically and mentally simulating for my dog. As I do have a working line GSD I include the commands before using the flirt pole due to her needing to be mentally simulated.Hope this helps anyone who isn’t too sure if this toy would suit their dog.

Highly entertaining. Our Dog searches out the envelope containing the flirt pole by smell and absolutely enjoys the time playing.

Whilst my Lab loved the playtime with this product, he did, due to the nature of the play, become overly excited and in the end I stopped using it because it distracted him for being calm when playing or training with other toys or retrieve items.Chris H, Fife.

Really good quality extendable so can be used in smaller spaces. Good value and comes with 2 rope toys

The product is shoddy and the quality is quite frankly terrible, there’s a plastic piece on the rope of the actual pole which my dog was constantly trying to chew, within the first use he managed to get this off and almost choked, underneath the plastic is a small metal ring which seems like a terrible risk especially for small puppies!!Avoid! It’s absolutely terrible and down right dangerous.

    Amazing
My god loves the flirt pole! It’s very good quality and can handle tug of war (25kg gsd). My dog loves it so much, she goes crazy for it. 10/10 would recommend
