How to Fit and Get Started with No-Pull Training
Step 1: To select the right size headcollar for your dog, we always recommend measuring your dogs’ neck and nose circumference and then referring to our sizing guides.
Initially your dog may object to wearing the headcollar, so it is important to introduce the headcollar to your dog slowly and ensure there is a positive association with it. Show them the headcollar and if they come forward to investigate it, verbally praise them and give a food treat. Hold the headcollar at the top of the noseband in one hand and with a food treat in the other hand, lure your dog’s nose through the loop and allow them to eat the treat. Once your dog is relaxed about doing this, gently place the noseband across their nose and give another treat. Gradually extend the amount of time your dog has the noseband on their nose before releasing the treat.
Tip: Keep the hand that is holding the noseband still and only move the hand that you are luring with.

Step 2: Once accepted, you can secure the neck strap so that it is snug, but not too tight (see step 3 for further guidance). Remember to continue to treat your dog whilst wearing the headcollar. When you remove it, be offhand for the first few moments, so that all the praise comes whilst wearing the headcollar.
Repeats these steps, steadily increasing the time the headcollar is on the dog.
Step 3: Use the slider to adjust the neck strap fit, you should be able to get 1-2 fingers between the strap and your dog’s neck. The noseband should sit halfway down the nose, away from the eyes, and without pressure on the dog’s chin allowing them to open their mouth fully.

Step 4: Attach the headcollar safety link to your dog’s collar.
Step 5: We always recommend using a Halti double clip Training Lead for the best no-pull training experience. Attach the small clip on your lead to the ring under your dog’s jaw and attach the larger clip on your lead to your dog’s collar or harness.

Step 6: Take your dog to a quiet place and whilst holding the lead with both hands practice walking around using the headcollar. You should only engage the headcollar by gently pulling on the lead connected to the ring under their chin when your dog is actually pulling. Its unique patented design works by gently steering the dog’s head in the direction the owner wants to go in because by pointing the head in the desired direction the body has to follow. Continue to reward your dog when they are walking without pulling.
In the early stages of no-pull training, you may notice your dog trying to remove the headcollar if they are not fully acclimatised to wearing it. Be sure to distract your dog from doing this with treats or their favourite toy. This will reinforce the positive association and experience with using a headcollar.

Used on my 2yr old Cocker Spaniel who is a dream off lead but has never managed to get the hang of not doing the Spider-Man pulling my arm off technique. Good quality, fits well and makes lead walking so, so much easier. He is able to sniff and eat treats with this on so it’s not restrictive but absolutely does the job in stopping him pulling.

Game Changer… Rocky’s new Halti Head Collar.. He used to really pull when we went for a walk which was no fun for him or me ..After about 15 mins he got used to it , no more pulling it’s totally humane . He did try to rub his snout a few times (which I expected) ,but it was easily fixed . At the end of the walk we were both happy .If anyone has a dog that pulls, get one of these . Best £14 I’ve spent in a long time. For the sanity of yourself and your Dog .. you won’t regret it.

The ease of putting it on my dog, its immediate easing of strain on arms when dog was constantly pulling at end of lead, the security of collar attachment in-case of coming free of head collar. Fairly satisfied with product.I’m purchasing a second one as the one I’m using has started to fray quite badly on the chin strap after a few months use so I’m erring on the side of caution and replacing it also can’t say if material was faulty or not unfortunately as would have returned it for refund.

I’ve tried countless products to stop my large, reactive German Shepherd from pulling on the lead, but nothing worked—until I discovered the Halti head collar based on an Amazon recommendation. I was skeptical at first, expecting another failed attempt, but this product has been a total game-changer.Since using the Halti, my dog walks calmly beside me with hardly any pulling. It also effectively prevents her from lunging at cats or people without straining her neck or requiring me to use all my strength to keep her under control. If you’re worried about your dog slipping out of the head collar, I suggest using a training lead attached to both the Halti and your dog’s regular collar, as shown in the review video.Highly recommend for anyone struggling with a strong lead-puller!

I bought this as I’ve always sworn by Halti products.I ordered the size suggested for a cocker spaniel and it was far too large. The thickness and width of the individual pieces of material are too wide and it squished my dogs eyes. She was going crazy with it even though we treat trained through it before using it. Set on the smallest setting, she could easily get it off. It was too chunky it was lovely and soft but the chunkiness made it uncomfortable for her.I reordered the smaller size, or so I thought, but a head collar arrived from a different company, I must’ve been mistaken thinking it was the Halti company I was going to send straight back. But decided to try it and found it a perfect fit and my dog can see without her sight being blocked by the straps. She wore the new one with comfort and it’s made a huge difference to her walking.Maybe on a bigger dog the great quality of Halti head collar would suit better as the wider face would mean it wouldn’t encroach on the eye areas.Lovely thick material and super soft. But for my cocker spaniel, it’s too thick and wide and that made it uncomfortable for her and my cockerpoo.

I bought this for my 4 month old cavapoo, she weights 10kg and isn’t big but when walking she would be on her hind legs pulling me up the road which was challenging. Since I have put this head collar on her, it’s like walking a different dog. I didn’t have to hold it tight and it works amazingly. She doesn’t really like it and she still tries to rub her head into everything to get it off but she will get used to it and it is a game changer. I use it with the training lead.

I’ve had great results with Halti head collars with previous dogs in the past and I also bought one for my mums dog and it stopped him pulling instantly so she could walk him more easily. However, I must say that on my own new rescue dog I have had to stop using a Halti head collar because I noticed it is wearing the fur from her nose. This head collar usually works – no doubt about it – but it is a “prop” like an E-collar or prong collar (although obviously MUCH kinder) and it doesn’t TRAIN your dog to stop pulling on a lead – it often PREVENTS your dog from pulling on a lead – if you’re lucky. However, if you then stick any other collar or harness on them they will revert to type – unless you train them otherwise. That said, I have had other untrained rescue dogs walk on Haiti’s their whole life with no problems whatsoever. BUT! if you have a dog like mine that has been allowed to grow up with no training and is an absolute steam train on the lead regardless of what you put on them – training, training and more training is the only real answer. I don’t want to make my dogs face bald so I am going back to a standard collar and LOTS of time and patience with training instead.
