The other day, when we decided to take our rescue dog Rufus on a family trip, this back seat extender for pets was a game-changer. Rufus is notorious for trying to climb into the front seat, and this sturdy cover saved the day, providing him a comfortable space while keeping our car’s back seat pristine. Setting it up was a breeze. The hard base and the quality material, which feels like it could withstand a tornado, meant even his active paws couldn’t make a dent. Rufus seemed more relaxed, and so did my wife, who sat beside him without feeling the baseboards digging into her.The honeycomb quilted finish and leather accents are stylish and durable, making clean-up effortless even after Rufus decided to shed an entire season’s worth of fur. The pockets are brilliant for stashing essentials like wet wipes and dog treats. My only gripe is the price, it seemed a bit steep, but considering we’d probably have to replace a cheaper version multiple times, it might balance out. For any pet parent looking to make long drives less chaotic and more enjoyable, I’d definitely recommend this handy contraption.

Transforming our vehicle into a pet-friendly haven has always been a challenge, but this dog seat cover truly delivers. The material is notably thick and sturdy, making it quite resilient to our rescue dog’s robust nature. We’ve tried various options before, but none matched the quality and practicality of this one. It’s ideal for our Land Rover Discovery Sport, providing ample space and comfort for the dog, thanks to those clever hard boards that stop him from trying to clamber into the front. Setting it up was surprisingly straightforward, and it’s refreshing that the zippers and straps are holding together admirably, no more fiddly re-zipping mid-journey.There is a tad concern about the price, which is a bit on the steep side. However, given its durability and multifunctional design, it seems a worthy investment. Cleaning it is a breeze, a major plus when dealing with two hairy and adventurous kids in the car. Overall, this cover not only makes our travels with the dog easier but also keeps the car’s interior in top shape.

Works will with an energetic Spaniel. He’s around 17Kg so not sure how well it will work with a bigger heavier dog or how long it will last. Quality is ok, although i was expecting a little more at this price point.

I’ve had many dog hammocks for our cars, all have been the soft-type which I thought were great for giving our dogs comfortable freedom across the back seat whilst protecting the seats and filling that all important gap between the back & front seats. These come in around £35 for what appears to be a decent hammock but they don’t last. The straps break, the zipped sides fail or they tear. So I’ve been looking at these hard-base hammocks and through some light research decided to try the Hopidogie. The first thing was quality. The straps are well made, in fact the entire hammock is well made and fits perfectly in my Landrover Discovery Sport. The hard base covers the gap between the back and front seats perfectly and provides a lot more space for the dogs, it’s not a gimmick, it really does maximise the space in the back for them. The zipped side panels don’t come undone when un-zipped which is great as all the previous ones I’ve had come undone completely when unzipped and are fiddly to zip again when you have dogs on board. So although not cheap, I’ve already spent the same amount on 4 of the cheaper, I’m hoping by initial quality impressions this one will be good enough to last and with added bonus of gaining the extra space it will be money well spent. The dogs are happy so I’m happy!

Can’t recommend this enough. Simple to fix, great quality & works well. Really strong for 2 medium, very hairy dogs.

Just what I needed for my two pooches excellent quality and the extended platform is a winner.Only down side the pocket is on the passenger side.

Love the quality and fit of this. Not tried it with the dog (Dalmatian) yet! We have the Cupra Formentor.

This is expensive for a car seat cover – but then it’s more than just a normal car seat cover. The idea behind this seems to be to extend the depth of the back seat of your car by having 3 solid boards inserted into the base of the seat which are longer than the depth of the average car seat thereby allowing more space for the pet(s). The fact that there are 3 boards is a definite plus point in my eyes as we regularly travel with a rescue dog who does not handle separation well so constantly tries to get into the front seat on a long journey. To combat this, my wife sits in the back with the dog and wouldn’t like to spend a long drive on a hard board so being able to remove on allows her some comfort.Fitting the cover was easy enough as it is very similar process to an existing ‘tired’ one I have and the instructions are clear enough but I think it’s fairly intuitive anyway. It comes with a seatbelt harness to plug into the existing seatbelt socket and has a catch at the other end to attach to a harness or collar – personally I prefer a harness in the car due to not wanting to potentially strangle the dog if breaking hard! The material is very good quality and it was fairly easy to remover dog hair from it with a hand-held vac. It has a quality honeycomb type quilted finish with leather patches to strengthen some fittings and the useful pockets have leather accents on the top. The whole thing feels more robust than others I have had but I guess time will tell as to its longer-term durability. Overall, this is a good product and I gather it can be used as a boot liner if needed, but I feel it is a little expensive as I could buy a boot liner and seat cover for less than the £99.99 price at the time of order (it has subsequently been reduced to £89.99). If it lasts a few years of regular use, it may well be worth it.
