This stuff is intended for pups but I did try on my slightly older cockapoo. He is the fussiest eater. He liked it some days but not others. I found given it to him in bite size pieces rather than mashing it up made him more likely to eat it. I’m aware of how good the brand is but sadly I’ve still not found a dog food that my cockapoo loves to eat. He will eat roast chicken!

I recently switched my puppy to James Wellbeloved Puppy Chicken, Rice and Vegetables in Loaf Can, and I’m so glad I did. She loves the taste, and it’s been great for her sensitive stomach. Before, she would have upset stomachs after eating some commercial dog food. But with this food, she’s been having regular, healthy bowel movements. I highly recommend James Wellbeloved.

Our puppy loved this food and being a breed prone to allergies it being hypoallergenic was an added bonus. Will be using this from now on.

We have had a number of dogs over the years and all have lived good long lives. I am convinced that this is mainly down to us figuring out quickly when our dogs were puppies to avoid cheap dog food full of filler ingredients, like wheat and sugar. Prioritising a good diet for your dog is the best you can do by them. There is a great online resource called all about dog food that can help you understand dog food ingredients better. The top three ingredients in this loaf-style puppy food by James Wellbeloved is:45% chicken, 4% rice and 3.5% carrot. Not too bad at all, although it does also include beet pulp, which some dog owners prefer to avoid while others believe it adds beneficial fibre. I’d say do your own research and make your own mind up.Now let’s compare those ingredients to a well-known brand, PC. 25% meat and animal derivatives and the next ingredient (percentage not stated) is shown as ‘cereal’. Not so great.Let’s compare futher to my current dog’s diet. 65% turkey, 12% brown rice and 10% vegetables. No other fillers, just minerals and herbs. So, you see, there is a lot to learn about dog food and which one is right for you and your pet. I would say that this particular food is a good middle-ground offering and a far better option than most of the junk food you find in supermarkets! One of the biggest problems too with dog food is getting your dogs to actually eat it. When I offered this food to my fussiest dog, not only did he eat it all immediately (which is very unusual for him) but he asked for seconds. So this would definitely make a good option for fussy eaters. We have not noticed any digestive issues so far with this brand but should that change while we work our way through the pack, I will update my review accordingly.

This is not a bad food at all, but i feel its very, very overpriced for the quality. My pups predicted adult weight is 25kg. The feeding guide states he would need around 1500grams a day (he is almost 6 months), so almost 4 tins. This puppy food retails for £36 for just 12 tins, which is obviously £3 a tin, meaning it would cost me almost £12 a day to feed him! Thats a ridiculous and unaffordable price, especially as you can get wet puppy food of a similar, if not better, quality for around half what they are charging for this. Thats the low end of the feeding guideline too.Cost aside, there are a couple of issues we have had with this – firstly, its sticky. Very sticky. My pup struggled to eat this directly out of a bowl; it got stuck to the roof his his mouth constantly. I found watering it down helped a bit but he did best when i smeared it on a licky mat. He also enjoyed that and was kept entertained for awhile. The other issue is again to do with consistency – i couldnt get it out of the tin very well. I would say i wasted a good spoonful each time. This would be better in a tray as it would be easier to get out (not to mention clean for the recycling bin) and you can give a tray to a dog to lick clean. Cant do that with a tin. Considering the price, i want to get every last little bit out and into my dogs tummy.I do like the limited ingredients, although its a shame it only appears to come in one flavour, and thats chicken. A lot of dogs are intolerant to chicken (my eldest is) so an alternative would be a good idea.Overall its an alright food if you can afford it, but i wouldnt purchase it again unless it was the only food my dog could tolerate. I used to feed JWB many years ago when they were independent, but once they sold out to Mars the quality hasnt been the same, and the price has skyrocketed.

A first class food especially for our fussy eater once you open a can of this she begins jumping around until you feed her it is more expensive than some of your other brands but it’s made from quality ingredients that don’t upset your dogs digestive system or cause further skin irritation there’s no going back after using this brand I would highly recommend it smells good enough foe me to eat lol but I don’t think Bella would be overly impressed.
