I couldn’t believe how well-priced this lead was, because a lot of the ones I used to buy in pet stores or vet surgeries would climb upwards of £20 for a decent lead. Our dogs are Labs and we like a nice sturdy lead with some cushioning so that it doesn’t hurt out hands if they pull (Labs tend to want to be involved in everything).I bought two bright orange ones to make them easier to see. They come with small reflective strips all up the lead, which is good if you’re out in the evening, but you may need to wash the lead if it gets dirty to make sure they stay visible. The lead comes with a small loop for making the lead tighter if you need to hold your dog near a busy road (always good with excitable dogs or puppies) and a comfy handle. The rope lead part can be a little rough but you generally don’t need to hold it with the mini-loop there to give you a little more control.Other leads I’ve had have snapped when one of our Labs jumps excitedly out of the back of the car. Well, sir, this one does not. It’s remained strong despite an energetic Lab being attached to the end. It also comes with a handy little ‘O’ ring, which is a metal ring that you can attach a clip to, should you need to seatbelt your dogs in the back of the car (which is what we use it for). You could also use it to attach things you want your dog to carry, such as a water bottle, etc. The O rings have held well and haven’t snapped.Overall, perfect for what we needed. Strong, reflective, with a mini handle and an attachment so you can keep your dogs safe in the car. What more could you want? It’s a great price too.Just as an aside, we used ours on two large female Labs (one lead each) that weigh around 30 kgs or less. I can’t say how effective this would be on a much larger or heavier dog (such as a Newfie or Mastiff) so proceed at your own risk. For our dogs, however, it’s perfect.

I’ve been using this for about 3 months now and i have to say i’m very impressed with it. We have a young cocker spaniel and he is not great on a lead – he is strong and can pull a lot, plus he has a bit of a habit of chewing his leads and harnesses. This lead feels very sturdy and substantial and our dog is yet to try chewing it! It has a large, sturdy clip which looks like it will last a long time. When it first arrived I was a bit concerned that it was a little too chunky but once i started using it this hasn’t been a problem. The lead is a good length, allowing the dog to get a fair bit of freedom whilst walking, while the short, close control handle allows a much greater level of control over the dog when you need it. I love that i can quickly grab the short handle if i need my dog to stay close for whatever reason. My only complaint would be that on wet days, the short handle can sometimes drag in mud and puddles which can be a bit annoying if you suddenly need to grab it and end up with a muddy hand, but this is a small problem and i have discovered that the whole lead is very easy to clean and comes up looking as good as new. Wish i had found this lead sooner!

This lead works really well with my large Alaskan Malamute! It takes strong pulls very well, and the smaller handle help keep a bit of extra control around roads. The general length is great and it feels really sturdy, and the bright orange colour help keep us visible. Very easy to clip onto a harness to.

I bought this so that I could continue lead training my springer spaniel pups. I bought one to check firstly how it was going to work out and secondly they are being trained separately at the moment anyway.I though the traffic handle is ok but just a little too close to the dog for it to be helpful in training when slacking the lead off. It works well though when keeping control. One of the reviews mentioned being careful when the length of the lead is being used especially if you let the dog run free as it’s likely to get caught on the traffic lead part of it and I wholeheartedly agree with this. Even when you have hold of the dog the traffic lead handle does tend to catch the floor because it’s so close to the dogs collar. That aside it’s perfectly fine, seems sturdy and has good comfortable grips on the handles and a reasonable price too. I won’t be buying another one but I’ll continue using the one I bought when I think I need to. I’ve given mostly 5 stars except for the overall score which I’ve given a 4 because of the issues I have raised.

This lead is slightly longer than the average lead. It’s sturdy, comfortable to hold and the traffic handle is a great idea. It’s probably best suited to medium to large size dogs. It’d definitely be to long and heavy for very small ‘toy’ sizes. It has a good strong metal connect and a small ring to attach poop scoopbag holder/ treat bag etc. The reflective strip really catches the light at night making me and my dog highly visible on darker nights.

By far one of the best dog leads I’ve ever used. We’ve had one of these for our male Labrador for a few years now since he was a pup and it’s lasted well and makes for an enjoyable walk. We’ve recently taken on another Labrador so needed another lead so bought another Sweetie lead. I wasn’t sure how I’d get on walking 2 dogs and needing hands available to clear up after them, however with these leads I can loop them over my wrists and have both hands free to clear up after no.2’s! Just bought another lead for our boy as his original grey one is looking a bit dirty and grubby and the small elastic loop on the shorter handle is lost it’s elasticity, however the lead is almost 3 years old now and has been used daily so can’t complain really. Definitely recommend these to anyone who has a dog.
