I started with a Ring doorbell in late 2022 and in the subsequent 12 months I have built up an array of 6 ring devices connected to perform various camera/doorbell variations. In 2017 I started out with two cameras from a rival firm which served me well for 8 years. For this review I will focus on just the power cabled indoor camera.I bought this model on one of Amazon’s discounted cycles for £30.Unless your needs are urgent, wait for the inevitable sale in January, Black Friday, Amazon Prime Day, Full Moon Day, Rainbow in the Sky Day or whatever the marketing types have cooked up.The indoor wired camera is easy to set up. It follows the same standard steps as all the other ring cameras.Scan the code on the back of the camera with your phone, join your local wi-fi and sign in or create your ring account on the website. This is much easier than the rival cameras I setup in 2017.You can then fine tune configure it.Multiple motion detection zones, audio recording on/off, infrared on/off, night vision colour option on/off, smart motion detection for motion detecting just people and motion detection sensitivity are all standard. There are subscription fees to view your recordings.Without the subscription fee you can just view live/current events through the camera.Subscription charges are per unit for the first two cameras at £3.49 each. After that you will pay no more than £8 in total a month for any number of cameras at the same location. So for my 6 it costs me £8 a month but if you pay a year in advance you can reduce that cost further. All Ring pricing options are cheaper than the rival cameras I used to have. When choosing a ring camera make sure you select the right model. They all do slightly different things in practice. The indoor camera is powered only by a wall socket. It is the only model I have encountered that you can place indoors looking outside through a window to detect motion outside through the window. The outdoor cameras on the other hand are battery or solar powered and are weather resistant but cannot be used indoors to look outside through a window to detect motion.I use my indoor cameras to look out the window and detect motion. They work well but of course if you get heavy rain or condensation on the window this will reduce what the camera can see.The camera can have infrared switched off – pretty much essential when using it through a window. The camera also shows a blue light when recording activity. The only way to hide this is to put a black sticker or bit of tape over it. It does not effect the camera performance. The angle visible is very large. The picture is clear. The motion detection is good with zones that can be selected for movement although there is no independent motion sensitivity for each zone. It’s one level for all. The indoor camera is fixed position so there is no pan and tilt but with the wide angle of visibility there is no need for it indoors and even looking out from a window it covers a large area. They can also be configured to work with Amazon Echo Alexa but I have not gone for that option with the indoor cameras.I am very happy with my Ring Indoor cameras. They are well priced. They are easy to setup. They have a wide viewing angle. The application to view recordings works pretty well but could do with a little activity graph per camera instead of a list of motion recordings. The picture quality is good. They are reliable.Subscription charges are reasonable and certainly cheaper than my previous make.

The Ring camera provides clear, high-quality video with reliable motion detection, making it great for home security. It’s easy to install and integrates seamlessly with the Ring app, allowing for real-time alerts and two-way audio. Night vision works well, and the cloud storage option ensures you don’t miss any important footage. A solid choice for anyone looking to enhance home surveillance.

Had this as well as a blink camera, which I had to return as it kept freezing. This camera works great and picture quality is good. Easy to set up and I like the privacy cover that can be used when I am indoors, more expensive but worth the money as it works every time, so I can check on my dog, good live feed and you can also look back on previous images.

We got this to monitor our cat (and other uninvited cats) entering and exiting the cat flap. It’s also a visible burglary deterrent located n our conservatory at the back of the house. It was easy to set up. We already have two Ring doorbells and added into the app. Apart from a couple of glitches the WiFi feed is good and the image is pretty sharp, including the night infrared mode, with a wide field of view. You can tilt the camera on its base to get the ideal angle. This is quite a small discrete item which looks good in any room. We had Ring Plans for the two doorbells and it was only £5/year extra to add this. I can now add additional security cameras if I want to without further cost for storing the footage. The only weakness I can see is that the privacy cover is quite flimsy, particularly the top pivot and has to be persuaded with a second push to fully close. I think the more ham fisted owner could easily break it. Generally a good product though

I do want to write more at a later date and hope to add some footage, but just wanted to immediately confirm that this little camera is easy to set up, quickly connects to wi-fi and pairs seamlessly with the very useful mobile app, which I have installed both on my iPhone and Kindle. We have a rodent in our walls and loft and, after realizing it had found its way into the kitchen drawer where we store new packs of sugar and hot chocolate, we set humane traps in there. These haven’t worked yet, so I decided to try to see exactly what we were dealing with and where it was coming in.The camera was set up in the drawer and early this morning and into daylight, the little furry popped its head over the side of the drawer, at intervals, and sniffed at a few sticks from a stale Graze box I found at the back of the drawer and fully opened to attract it. After the initial few sniffs over the side, it gained enough courage to steal them all one by one!I’m very pleased to have found exactly how big it is and where it pops its head over. Now I can position the traps in better places and hopefully lure it into one of them.Obviously, the drawer is totally dark and, at night, there is no visibility whatsoever, which suits little intruders. However, my one gripe is that the camera emits a tiny blue light, so the rodent was constantly aware that there was a light shining and looked straight into the lens as if it was worried about it. After a few sniffs over the side of the drawer, it did lean over and feel more confident that it was safe, so it didn’t completely scare it off.The camera has a very good wide view of the drawer. I have positioned it in one corner and it can monitor the whole area and notify me of any movement at all in the drawer. You can select which areas of the area you want to be detected. I chose to pull the little shape to all corners. You can have up to three separate areas and each detection shape has several points to you can define your selections pretty accurately. The general gripe about this type of camera is that you have to pay a subscrition to view saved motion capture. I have no idea what functions will still be available when my trial rund out, but for my immediate purposes, this camera and the trial will definitely help me to organize my traps for a whole 30 days.BIG PLUS:I was very pleasantly surprised that, after signing up with my email address and getting the app up and running, my free trial was already active, with no mention of bank details or credit cards numbers.I’m guessing, I will be prompted at the end of the trial to either start paying for Ring’s services or lose them, but not pestering buyers for financial details before they’ve even decided if they want to pay a sub is something the company has got right.Another thing…my phone and Kindle disconnect from the live feed quite a lot, but one tap of a button to reconnect, puts you back online with the camera. I have found using the Ring.com site itself on my PC works better, as my PC is connected through a cable, so probably a lot more stable.Recommend this little camera. Fits in my kitchen drawer and streams/records pretty decent quality footage when placed in complete darkness.
brilliant, exactly what it says on the tin. Its good quality audio qnd video for what it is. I check on my dog through the day while im at work and it notifies me when he passes the camera so i can see what the little buggers up to at the right time. –
i like that its cheap to buy but it works so well and is simple to setup. it does what it says on the tin and theres no bs caches or anything. i use it to check on my dog while im at work and it notifies me and records the events where dog passes camera so i know what hes doin ost of the time and have piece of mind. its good quality video and ok audio. its like V:6 A:4 kinda quality but perfect for what it is.

Bought as I wanted to not only keep an eye on the home, but keep an eye on pets. After research and taking into consideration things such as security and legality reasons, I chose Ring. They offered the best value all around, including subscriptions, which most implement. The customer does receive a complimentary 30 day trial. There are two price options one of around £60+ per year, or £80 per year of which devices registered are covered by an extended warranty until cancelled. Both options allow for downloading. Monthly payments are also an option. And there is a free version in which events can be viewed. The cameras arrived with everything required in the box, including signs to put in windows, etc. The set-up was super easy, simply download the app, sign up, scan QR code on the back of the devices, enter the WiFi password once, and Ring does the rest. Including devices automatically updating to the latest version. The devices even communicate when first used during the process to aid the customer during set-up.After the update, the customer can access the live feed to position the cameras, which can stand upright with no installation if the customer doesn’t require so.The motion detection is incredible, personally I haven’t needed to adjust any settings. The camera hardware is a crystal clear 1080p or close, with the night vision being nearly the same. And the OS is impeccable. The field of view is wide, and you can zoom in on footage, and live feeds. And adjust zones etc.The cameras hardware is that impressive it captures what a person says through a window. The app has many features, works smoothly, and the user interface has clearly had a lot of care and thought put into it. The user can set up geo fences, and be reminded to arm cameras. Privacy covers built in. The user is notified of any person’s/pets detected. And the user can access a live feed through the app itself, the image quality is around 720p when streaming meaning the user can see exactly what is happening at a glance. All via the app. It’s a bonus that the devices can also act as alarms, the user can access this feature via the app, with a two way microphone that is also of a decent quality. And any Ring devices registered on the same account work simultaneously together to offer greater services.Overall I am extremely impressed, and pleased with this purchase. Ring has far surpassed my expectations as a customer.

Great little camera. Set up in minutes.Quality is perfect for watching our new puppy. Voice and listening options really good and I really like the privacy screen option. Size is good that it’s not noticeable on the shelf.

It’s compact and light weight. The camera quality is really good and night vision is clear and distinctive. The only problem is that it doesn’t retain charge and has to be connected to the power supply to function. Otherwise a great product.

First tried an Apple version – 3rd Party in fact. Very difficult to set up, needed an Apple Hub, couldn’t use Apple TV (out of date), so many interacting settings and twice the price of the Ring. So bought one of these to try. Very easy to set up, although sometimes one wonders if you need all the settings. Notifications work well away from home. Bought a second one as was going overseas for a few weeks. Easy to see History – thankfully very, very few triggers. Next step, perhaps an outdoor version. Very easy to connect from anywhere to the cameras via the app.
