  • Stop Your Dog Pulling – A figure of 8 dog lead is an effective way to stop your dog pulling. The lead tightens ever so slightly when your dog pulls & relaxes on heel which discourages the pulling action.
  • Softer On Your Dog – Padding over the part of the rope that sits on your dog’s nose ensures the lead does not rub on this sensitive area. Our figure of 8 lead is made from NON stretchy rope which is essential when training your dog.
  • Available In 2 Sizes – We offer our figure of 8 in two sizes, one (8mm diameter) more suited to smaller/ medium sized dogs, the other (10mm diameter) more suited to medium/large dogs. Although, both leads can be used on any sized dog.
  • Collar Attachment (Included) – The Total Pet figure of 8 dog lead comes with a collar attachment. This acts as a safety feature if your dog manages to slip the figure of 8 lead.
  • Instruction Guide – In every order we provide a guide on how to install the figure of 8 lead which ensures you and your dog get the most out of the product.

Try the Total Pet flat figure of 8 dog lead. A premium figure of 8 dog lead specifically designed to discourage pulling & lunging! When your dog pulls, the lead tilts your dogs head down, breaking their line of sight therefore encouraging to walk in a normal manor.

Will this lead stop my dog pulling?

A figure of 8 lead works by a simple pressure & release system. When pulling the lead will tilt your dogs head down and when pressure is released, the lead will relax. This should help discourage the pulling action.

What size is best for my dog?

If you have a dog like a Terrier breed, we recommend the small/ medium lead. Dogs like Labradors etc, we recommend medium/large. If you have a medium size dog, either lead will be ok. The only difference is the thickness of rope, not length.

How do I get my dog used to wearing the lead?

We recommend you don’t try to force your dog to wear the lead. Gradually introduce the lead to the dog, you can just use it as a slip lead at the start and gradually introduce the loop over the nose. Reward with treats coupled with persistence.

Can I use this as a slip lead as well?

Yes, this lead can also be used as a slip lead.

Can my dog still open their mouth to drink?

Yes of course. The figure of 8 buckle is not fixed or anything its only purpose is to position the rope. Your dog will still be able to open their mouth to eat, drink and pant.

Key Reasons To Buy Total Pet vs Others

Close up nose padding - rope figure of 8

Padding Over Nose = No Friction Build Up!

Padding over the nose ensures your dog is comfortable when wearing the lead & no friction builds up over the nose if your dog is an aggressive puller.

Figure of 8 rope reflective element

Reflective In The Dark!

The rope has a reflective element running throughout, this ensure the lead is safe to use at night and in dark environments.

Main Benefits of Using a Figure of 8 Lead

  1. A figure of 8 lead allows much greater control vs a traditional lead and collar. By having a loop over the dogs muzzle pressure is taken off the neck which is much safer for your dogs health.
  2. It also allows you to use less pressure when controlling your dog as you have greater control over the head and are not being ‘pulled’ by the dog.

We believe a figure of 8 lead is a must have for any dog owner!

PLEASE NOTE: We are not saying this will stop your dog pulling completely. This is a tool which can work well for some dogs and others not. Some dogs will take to it, others won’t. If not, this product can be used as a conventional slip lead.

10 reviews for Total Pet Figure of 8 Dog Lead

This lead looks uncomplicated and easy to use with a padded nose band. It’s early days and only used once but I am hopeful that this will work and help to ease the pulling from a very strong dog. From ordering to delivery it’s been a good all round experience.

I brought this lead for my Belgian Malinois pup who started pulling on walks really bad. It came within a day and the instructions were very easy to follow. The lead fitted very well and I love the extra clip that you can attach to a collar for extra support. It’s the perfect length and has a soft padded bit that goes around the nose to prevent rubbing. It’s really helped with his lead training and has made our walks more enjoyable.

the product is great and very sturdy. But for some reason after around a week my pup no longer cares that it’s on and will fight against it! I have to switch to a different kind after a week and then go back and try again. Clueless

I don’t usually leave reviews but I have been very impressed by this product and I’m happy to support a young, up-and-coming entrepreneur. This product is a great demonstration of keeping things simple. It takes a simple idea and adds some nice features on top to make it a high quality product. For example, the neoprene over the snout and the little buckle under the snout are very effective in terms of ensuring a comfortable fit for the dog and also a snug fit to give the owner piece of mind that it won’t slip off easily. The addition of the extra clip is also a great idea. I can clip that onto my dog’s harness for an extra layer of safety in case she does manage to get herself free of the lead itself. If that does happen, which is rare, the lead is still attached to her harness so there no fear of her getting loose and running out on a busy road or something like that. Simple, but very effective.I bought this lead as my dog, a miniature pincher, is just a puppy (7 months old) and tends to pull a lot and lunge at other dogs and even people sometimes which is never a good thing, especially when walking my kids to school with a lot of children and other dogs about. This lead has made an instant and significant positive impact on her behavior. She still has a lot to learn but this is a big step forward as she is already calmly trotting along beside us now. She rarely pulls the lead tight now, leaving it nice and relaxed for a comfortable and enjoyable walk! One other point that made a big difference for us: Being a miniature pinscher, my dog is quite small. Her head and snout are tiny. We had already shopped around for a Halti and visited a number of outlets but we were unable to find one small enough to fit our dog. This is the massive advantage of the Total Pet lead – it offers a lot of flexibility to ensure a proper, secure fit, even for a miniature breed. Also, I’ve used Halti’s in the past and never really liked them as I found them a bit awkward – the Total Pet lead is definitely not awkward and is simple to use.Would love to eventually see this product on the shelves of the big pet outlets. I highly recommend it.

Instantly reduce your dog from pulling, however, my 4 year old German Shepherd hated it and repeatedly tried to dislodge the nose strap, in the end he manage to break it. The nose strap needs to be thicker and stronger with the cushioned nose strap a bit wider and more flat than round.

Best dog lead ever we’ve tried all sorts of leads for our dog without success this lead was easy to fit stayed on and immediately worked on our hyperactive dog wish we’d found it earlier, very good quality as well

My cocker spaniel Louie is an absolute nightmare to walk! He just constantly pulls with his nose to the floor and I have tried many different leads and harnesses and watched hours of dog training videos on YouTube but nothing worked until now! I am absolutely blown away with how this lead has transformed his walking, as you can see from the video there is no pulling, he walks with his head up high and I have total control with my little finger, honestly I consider this to be a miracle! HahahaBest bit is I required no training, it pretty much worked like this from the minute I put it on with the exception of him being a little annoyed with the part that goes over his snout but he soon got over this. Absolutely brilliant, highly recommended!

This is my first ever review after 100’s of purchases through Amazon. I felt I had to! I was recommended to use a figure 8 lead for my working cocker spaniel as the pulling was just too much. I didn’t hold out much hope but gave it a try – it worked instantly and I now have a perfectly behaved dog on walks! I am amazed, it may not be his most favourite thing in the world but doesn’t cause discomfort or distress at all. If you are thinking of buying this lead for the same reason as me .. just do it, you won’t be disappointed and the reasonable price is a plus too!

Our Vizsla puppy (6 months old and already showing delinquent behaviour) was pulling like a Shire Horse with his normal collar and lead. He also reacted with excessive enthusiasm when meeting other people and dogs, jumping all over them.I had adapted a normal slip lead for a previous puppy to ‘figure of 8’ it over the dog’s snout and it considerably improved the on-lead walking experience. This purpose-made figure of 8 slip lead has produced an amazing change in behaviour. The Vizsla puppy is now a pleasure to walk, walking to heel without pulling. He is also far less reactive to people and dogs we meet on our walks, even letting strangers bend down to stroke him without jumping up at them (or stopping when I give a tug on the lead and tell him “down”).Friends who have witnessed the before and after have remarked positively on the changed behaviour. If you have a dog who will not walk to heel, pulls hard on the lead and generally misbehaves when meeting other people or dogs, I recommend that you give one of these leads a try. I particularly like this one because of the neoprene sleeve that goes over the snout, preventing soreness or hair loss.

We have a very lively young Labrador who is always in a hurry when out for a walk! We were using a halti head collar but she was constantly stopping to scratch it and try and get it off her nose. We saw a recommendation for one of these leads so decided to give it a go. The lead is like a figure of 8 around her nose and neck and you also clip it onto her collar so she can’t slip the lead and run away! The nose part has padding on to make it more comfortable to wear which means she no longer spends most of the walk trying to get it off. It hasn’t completely stopped her pulling which is why I gave it 4 stars but it has made a big improvement and she seems a lot happier wearing this than a halti for her walks.
