Recycling PlasticThe process to create Vet Fleece starts with your everyday water or pop bottle that if had not been recycled could end up in our oceans or landfills harming sea life or taking hundreds of years to break down. We always prioritise locally sourcing our materials to reduce transportation time |
Polyester GranulesOnce all of these plastic bottle have been saved from littering our planet, they get sorted by colour and plastic type, then they are ground into plastic granules. The granules are melted down and extruded though a microscopic hole which creates each individual length of fibre. The fibre is cut at our desired fibre length then bundled together in large bales of fibre. |
Polyester SliversOnce we receive our recycled water bottle’s in the form of bales of fibre, we use our carding machines to manipulate the fibres so they are all facing the same way. It is then spun into the sliver’s that we can use on our knitting machines. |
Vet FleeceWhether you choose Greenbacked Vet Bedding or Non-Slip Vet Bed we are very proud that our Vetfleece is made from 95% recycled plastic and is produced and quality checked in our own Yorkshire Coast Mill. Also, we make sure any leftover Vetfleece is put to good use elsewhere, whether this be comfy filling for our dog beds or insulation. |
35 Years in the Making
Vetfleece is made almost entirely from polyester, the backing yarn and fibres being polyester, and the backing acrylic.
We create Vetfleece in our own Mill in Bridlington, following a four-stage process of carding the fibres, knitting the backing fabric, interweaving the fibres to provide the pile and shearing the height, this provides us with our super soft high pile fleece. To finish we add the backing to the fleece which would be either our original green backing or the nonslip backing before it travels through a large oven which cures the coating.
The finished fleece bedding is then cut into our range of sizes by our automated cutting machine, and finally a mechanical rolling machine packs the Vetfleece into a small roll, this reduces storage and distribution charges, and helps protect the fleece whilst on its journey to our customers.

Taking Care of you Vetfleece
All of our Vet Fleece comes with a sewn-on washing label. We recommended that the Greenback Vetfleece is washed at 40°C, but vet fleece can handle much higher washing temperatures of up to Autoclavable standard 120°C, which is normally used in veterinarian practices to kill all bacteria but this temperature does shorten the life time of the vet fleece if used all the time. Our non-slip fleece can be washed at temperatures up to 40°C, any hotter than this and the backing can start to deteriorate.

Ordered non slip and green back vet fleece for our twelve year old spaniel. She has an orthopaedic bed and the vet fleece on top keeps her really warm and comfortable. The non slip is ideal on her favourite chair as it doesn’t move when she jumps on. Lovely quality deep fleece and easily washed.
Well … –
This fleece is perfect for pup bedding. It comes in a big sheet that can be cut to crate or whatever size. It’s thick and warm and withstands digging and chewing. I plan to buy more for the car crate as it’s easy to shake clean or wash and dries within an hour or two, quicker on a breezy day. Delivery was quick and I anticipate it will last years. I am pleased to have found this and it’s one of my better dog purchases.

This 30inch by 24 inch or something around that size, is perfect for a middle sized crate. The lab fits in it, nose to bum in perfect width and we leave the door open at night. With a few layers of this fleece down and some old blankets too, she loves her night bed.We have a day bed too out the crate btw.We use the fleece because it lasts a long time, unless our naughty-sweet-girl digs a bit lol.And it’s easy to wash.It’s also relatively comfortable for her I imagine, with a few sheets of the vet fleece down and lots of old blankets or towels that she makes into her own little nest. I love these vet fleeces. She’s had then in her crate and we’ve used them since she was a pup.They are lined on the back, so somewhat wet proof if they tinkle in the night.Either way, fold up easily into the machine machine. We line dry or dry in the drying machine.X

Nice soft bedding and machine washable at 40 degrees , only thing I would mention is if your using this product for whelping or puppies it doesn’t soak up urine or other fluids like the green backed vet bedding does , so doesn’t keep the top layer dry and it does give off a lot of fluff but that’s because I’m washing it every few days to keep the whelping box clean as it’s not absorbent but great for just bedding .

Product looks nice enough but is incredibly thin. I wanted it to go over a piece of soft furniture that the dogs like to lay on so it will be okay for that but the top layer is super thin and would offer no padding at all on any hard surface. I will go back top the original stuff in future

Ottimo prodotto! È arrivato nei tempi prestabiliti e l’ho subito messo nella cuccia esterna del mio cane, in modo da offrirgli un ulteriore difesa dal freddo quando è fuori in giardino. Ha gradito molto e per ora sembra resistere bene. Consiglio l’acquisto a chi ha bisogno di dare ai propri cani/gatti un tappeto morbido e caldo. Ovviamente è ottimo anche per interni. Quando dovrò cambiare il suo materassino che uso in casa penso proprio ne comprerò un altro uguale.

Die Qualität ist super, zudem paßt sie wie maßgeschneidert in die Wurfbox und die Kleinen fühlen sich wohl. Sie isoliert sehr gut und der Floor ist nicht zu hoch. Und sie riecht nicht nach Chemie wie manche Decken wenn sie neu sind.Eine tolle Farbauswahl. Hab gleich noch eine nachbestellt.
